Nigerian Army Denies Reports of 17 Soldiers Killed

The Nigerian Army has officially denied reports claiming that terrorists killed 17 soldiers, including a brigade commander, during an attack in Benisheikh, Borno State. In a statement issued on Friday, the army described these reports as false and exaggerated, emphasizing that only two soldiers lost their lives in the incident.

The brigade commander explained that the command's vehicle was unserviceable during the attack, which involved a high-grade mine that temporarily immobilized their Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle. The army coordinated a counter-assault to address the ambush.

Furthermore, the army cautioned against the trend of misleading video reports circulating on social media and television, urging the public to rely on official sources for accurate information. The statement reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Army to maintaining security in the region.
