Nigerian Army Denies Reports of 40 Soldiers Killed

The Nigerian Army has officially dismissed reports claiming that 40 soldiers were killed in recent terrorist attacks in Borno State, describing such accounts as misleading and based on unverifiable sources. This reaction follows a report published by Sahara Reporters alleging heavy military casualties during the attacks.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Army, represented by Lt. Col.

Sani Uba, stated that the report distorts the reality of the situation and fails to acknowledge the troops' efforts in defending communities against coordinated terrorist assaults. The attacks were carried out by remnants of Boko Haram, who had previously been dislodged from the Sambisa Forest during sustained military operations.

The Army confirmed that while there were engagements with terrorists, they successfully repelled the attacks and neutralized several terrorists. Chief of Army Staff Waidi Shaibu visited the operational theater in Maiduguri to assess the situation and reinforce troop deployments.

The Army urged the public to disregard exaggerated reports that undermine troop morale.
