ADC Faces APC Interference Ahead of Coalition Launch

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) was set to launch its coalition in June 2025, but the event was abruptly canceled by the Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments in Asokoro, Abuja, citing an unspecified “internal compliance matter.” This last-minute cancellation indicated possible interference from powerful individuals within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which has historically been aware of how to unite opposition parties, as demonstrated between 2013 and 2015 when they successfully defeated an incumbent president. The APC's strategy since 2023 has involved creating factional crises within opposition parties and enticing members to join the ruling party.

This tactic has led to sustained harassment of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) through legal impediments and police interventions. The ADC's formation is a response to these challenges, aiming to unify opposition parties against the APC in the upcoming 2027 elections.
