ADC Confident of Winning 2027 Elections Without Coalition

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that it does not need a coalition to secure victory in the 2027 general elections. Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, made this statement during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on a Friday.

Initially, the ADC aimed to form a broad coalition to effectively challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu. However, this plan shifted after Peter Obi and Rabi’u Kwankwaso departed to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Abdullahi noted that current discussions among opposition political parties are centered on cooperation, particularly in areas such as election monitoring and vote protection, rather than producing a single presidential candidate. He stated that while the ADC began with the idea of a coalition to ease the process of defeating the APC, they now believe they can win without it.

The ADC is still engaging in conversations with other opposition parties to explore possible areas of collaboration.
