Oliver Kahn: Legendary German Goalkeeper's Career

Oliver Kahn, born on June 15, 1969, in Karlsruhe, Germany, started his football journey at the age of six with local club Karlsruher SC, initially playing as a field player before switching to goalkeeper. He made his professional debut for Karlsruher SC in 1987 and established himself as a key player, helping the team reach the UEFA Cup semi-final in the 1993-94 season.

His impressive performances attracted attention from elite European clubs, leading to a major transfer to FC Bayern Munich in 1994 for a record fee for a German goalkeeper at the time. Over 14 years at Bayern, Kahn became the undisputed first-choice keeper, leading the team to win eight Bundesliga titles, six DFB-Pokal trophies, the UEFA Cup in 1996, and the UEFA Champions League in 2001, among other honors.

Internationally, Kahn earned 86 caps for the German national team from 1995 to 2006, serving as the first-choice goalkeeper during Germany's UEFA Euro 1996 triumph and the 2002 FIFA World Cup, where he won the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player. He retired from professional football in 2008.
