Nigerian Railway Corporation Unveils National Rail Connectivity Roadmap

The Nigerian Railway Corporation, led by Managing Director Kayode Opeifa, unveiled a national rail development roadmap at a transport conference in Abuja. The plan aims to connect all 36 states and the federal capital territory through rail transport to enhance economic efficiency and alleviate road congestion.

The initiative includes leveraging existing federal rail lines, encouraging sub-national operators, and setting ambitious targets for rail asset optimization and network expansion over the next two decades. The move is seen as long overdue for a country with a population exceeding 200 million and aims to revitalize the once vital rail transport system.
