NDC Plans to Raise Campaign Funds from Ordinary Nigerians

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced its intention to raise campaign funds from ordinary Nigerians, as stated by the party's national leader, Seriake Dickson, during an interview on Arise News. Dickson, who represents Bayelsa West in the Senate, emphasized that contributions could start as low as ₦1,000, aiming to diminish the influence of wealthy individuals on the democratic process.

He asserted that the NDC is the only political party in Nigeria that does not receive funding from government resources, stating, "You cannot allow your democracy to be funded by moneybags and billionaires." Dickson expressed the need to empower the oppressed Nigerian populace to break free from the control of affluent individuals. Additionally, he mentioned that the party is currently consulting on the composition of its presidential campaign council, with an announcement expected soon.

He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure free, fair, and credible elections in 2027, asserting that every vote will be contested.
