Atiku Criticizes Political Witch-Hunt Against El-Rufai

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, has publicly decried what he describes as a political witch-hunt against Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State. El-Rufai is currently facing corruption charges, with his trial set to proceed in the Federal High Court in Kaduna.

The court has adjourned the trial until April 14, following the conclusion of bail applications. Atiku's statement, conveyed through his media aide Paul Ib, highlighted the failed attempts by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to lobby El-Rufai, asserting that he is entitled to chart his own political course.

The allegations against El-Rufai are linked to corrupt practices, as outlined by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission. The situation reflects ongoing tensions within Nigerian politics, particularly regarding the treatment of political figures facing legal challenges.
