Sowore Claims Efforts Against Tinubu Are Futile in Court

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, expressed that attempts to remove President Bola Tinubu from office are a waste of time. He made this statement during a court session on Wednesday at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where heavy security was present.

Sowore, currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), is facing legal challenges stemming from allegations of making false claims against President Tinubu on social media. The court session was marked by a strict lockdown, limiting access for lawyers and journalists.

Sowore's current remand follows an order by Justice Mohammed Garba Umar, and he remains in custody pending a hearing to determine a motion to revoke a bench warrant against him. The activist compared his situation to historical events during the regime of former military dictator Sani Abacha, suggesting that similar circumstances eventually lead to a change in power.
