Tiger Woods Pleads No Contest in DUI Case, License Suspended

On September 2, 2023, Tiger Woods, the 50-year-old professional golfer, appeared in court in Stuart, Florida, where he changed his plea from not guilty to no contest regarding his DUI case stemming from a rollover crash on March 27, 2023. His DUI charge was reduced to reckless driving, and the charge for refusing a lawful urine test was changed to a careless driving citation.

As part of the plea deal, Woods will have his driver's license suspended for five years and is required to pay fines of $1,000 for reckless driving and $500 for the test refusal, in addition to court costs. Judge Darren Steele warned Woods that there would be “no exceptions” to the suspension, indicating that driving during this period could lead to jail time.

The ruling raises questions about Woods' use of golf carts, which can be classified as motor vehicles in Florida. Woods attended the court session with his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, and they left without making statements to the media.
