Tight Security Ensures Peaceful Eid-el-Fitr in Jos

On Friday, Muslims in Jos, Plateau State, marked Eid-el-Fitr with heightened security measures in place. The police intensified their presence around various prayer grounds, including the Fibr Mosque near the old airport junction, to prevent any potential breaches of peace.

Worshippers reported a normal atmosphere, feeling safe due to the robust security strategies implemented by the Plateau State Police Command, led by Commissioner Bassei Ewah. The police had previously imposed restrictions, including a total ban on commercial tricycle operations in the Jos-Bukuru metropolis during the celebrations.

Worshippers Sule Ibrahim and Moham Sani expressed their satisfaction with the security arrangements, highlighting the relief of being able to celebrate without worry. The police issued a statement warning anyone with malicious intent to disrupt the peace that they would face immediate arrest and prosecution.

They urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to maintain order during the festivities.
