Rodri Defends Manchester City Amid Premier League Charges

Rodri, a former midfielder for Manchester City, has expressed confidence that the club will successfully clear its name in a legal battle against the Premier League. Reports indicate that the Premier League has found Manchester City guilty of 114 out of 115 financial regulation charges, although the ruling has not been officially published and no sanctions have been imposed.

The charges, which date back to between 2009 and 2018, include providing inaccurate financial information and failing to cooperate with the investigation. An independent commission began hearing the case in September 2024 after an eight-year investigation.

Manchester City has denied the allegations and plans to appeal any punishment. Rodri recalled a similar situation in 2020 when UEFA banned City from European competitions for two years, a decision later overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Potential sanctions in the current case could include a points deduction. British Prime Minister Andy Burnham advised caution before drawing conclusions about City’s past achievements.
