Tinubu Appoints Local Government Leaders for Development Roles

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of local government council chairmen and councillors as monitoring and evaluation officers for economic development projects at local government and ward levels. This announcement was made by Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, during the General Assembly of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Abuja.
Uzodimma urged council officials to embrace the Federal Government’s development agenda and effectively communicate its achievements to the grassroots. He stated that council chairmen would oversee monitoring and evaluation in their local government areas, while councillors would do so at the ward level.
The governor emphasized the importance of local governments in national development and called for cooperation between state and local governments. He also urged local officials to prioritize financial accountability, sanitation, security, and youth empowerment, while mobilizing support for Tinubu’s re-election and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
