Tinubu, EFCC Recover N1.23trn, Secure 10,872 Convictions

The Arewa Think Tank commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for recovering approximately N1.233 trillion and securing 10,872 convictions related to corruption and financial crimes over the past 34 months. Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, the convener of the group, stated that these figures demonstrate the Tinubu administration's progress in combating corruption despite facing resistance from corrupt individuals.

He praised both President Tinubu and EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede for their dedication to the anti-corruption campaign and urged them to maintain their efforts until corruption is significantly reduced in Nigeria. The commendation followed a stewardship report presented by Olukoyede, detailing the EFCC's activities from October 2023 to July 2026.

The report indicated that the commission recovered assets and cash valued at about N1.233 trillion, including $684.48 million, £373,905.78, and €9.34 million. Additionally, over 40 personnel were dismissed for corruption and financial malpractice during this period.
