Tinubu Appoints Ajibola Basiru as APC Deputy Secretary for 2027

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ajibola Basiru, the national secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the deputy secretary of the party's 2027 campaign council. This council, comprising 223 members, is tasked with driving Tinubu's bid for a second term, focusing on political mobilization, stakeholder engagement, administration, and organizing campaign activities across Nigeria's 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Basiru, born on July 1, 1972, in Osogbo, has held the position of APC national secretary since August 2023, overseeing party administration and coordinating the party's e-membership drive. He withdrew from the 2026 governorship race earlier this year to concentrate on national party duties and preparations for the 2027 elections.

His academic credentials include an LLB, LLM, and PhD in Property Law from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), and he has held various political roles, including representing Osun Central Senatorial District in the Senate from 2019 to 2023.
