Olawepo-Hashim: Tinubu Knows APC Can't Secure 20% Votes

Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), asserted that President Bola Tinubu is not foolish and recognizes that the All Progressives Congress (APC) cannot achieve even 20% of the votes in a genuinely free and fair election. During an appearance on a Channels Television political program, Olawepo-Hashim highlighted the internal challenges facing the APC, attributing its struggles to a reluctance to fully embrace electoral transparency.

He emphasized that the ongoing internal tensions within the APC could weaken the party ahead of the 2027 elections. Olawepo-Hashim also criticized political defections, describing them as elitist opportunism rather than genuine grassroots support.

He warned against celebrating the weakening of opposition parties, as it could adversely affect Nigeria's democratic structure, noting that the APC has a significant number of registered voters but still faces challenges in securing popular support.
