Tinubu Allocates Land for Abdulsalami Abubakar Centre

On Saturday, President Bola Tinubu directed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to allocate a parcel of land along Airport Road in Abuja for the development of the Abdulsalami Abubakar African Resource Centre. This initiative was announced during an event marking the 84th birthday of former military head of state, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd).

Tinubu emphasized the importance of Abubakar's legacy and contributions to Nigeria, stating that the centre would advance its mission. He also disclosed that plans for the construction of the centre have already been reviewed, with a commitment from the federal government to fund its development.

The event featured the presentation of three books honoring Abubakar, with notable attendees including former military president General Ibrahim Babangida and former South African president Thabo Mbeki. Abubakar served as Nigeria's 11th head of state following the death of General Sani Abacha in June 1998 and is credited with overseeing the transition to civilian rule.
