Tinubu Orders Forensic Audit of IPPIS Over Ghost Workers

President Bola Tinubu has mandated a comprehensive forensic audit of Federal Government systems, particularly the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), due to findings related to ghost workers and alleged fake agencies. This directive was communicated through a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, and follows a resolution from the Federal Executive Council on August 19, 2026.

The audit will be coordinated by Taiwo Oyedele, the Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy. It aims to uncover how fictitious individuals were enrolled in government payrolls and whether these irregularities stemmed from system weaknesses or deliberate actions.

The review will also extend to various government platforms and assess the legal status of government entities, their budgetary allocations, and access to public resources. This initiative follows concerns about entities posing as legitimate government institutions, raising questions about a reported N1.3 billion appropriation linked to the PFIPC.
