Tinubu Orders Crackdown After Rescue of 21 Kidnapped Nigerians

On August 31, President Bola Tinubu directed security agencies to maintain pressure on kidnappers after the successful rescue of 21 Nigerians, including 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who were abducted in Kogi State. The rescue operation took place in the Egume-Ochaja forest in Ofu Local Government Area and involved the military, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), and local vigilantes.

The victims, comprising eight males and 13 females, were traveling from Abuja to Bayelsa State when they were kidnapped. President Tinubu expressed relief over their safe recovery and commended the security personnel for their efforts.

He emphasized that the operation would continue until the kidnappers were apprehended and warned that those involved in the abduction would face legal consequences. The President reaffirmed his administration's commitment to ensuring the safety of Nigerians while traveling across the country.
