Bandits Attack Patigi Again, Residents Demand Security

Less than 24 hours after a prior attack, bandits struck again in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State at approximately 9 pm. During this incident, a commercial motorcyclist traveling from Lata Nna was intercepted by the attackers, resulting in the abduction of an unidentified passenger, who was not a resident of the community.

The motorcycle rider managed to escape. Local residents have repeatedly called for increased military presence in the area, expressing frustration over their vulnerability to such attacks.

They reported significant losses due to ongoing insecurity, which disrupts their primary source of income, farming. Community members have provided information to authorities about bandit activities but feel their efforts have not led to adequate protection.

They also criticized the release of suspected bandit kingpins by security agencies, questioning the effectiveness of current measures against banditry. The latest attack has intensified calls for urgent security intervention in Patigi LGA.
