Tinubu Reaffirms Nigeria's Commitment to Interfaith Dialogue

On a significant occasion, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu welcomed Professor Andrea Riccardi, the founder of the Community of Sant'Egidio, alongside Italian Ambassador to Nigeria Roberto Mengoni and other dignitaries. During the meeting, President Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to interfaith dialogue and harmony, highlighting the nation's pluralistic nature with 220 million citizens from 250 ethnic groups coexisting within a democratic framework.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, outlined steps taken by the federal government to strengthen counter-terrorism efforts, including the Terror Prevention Act and enhanced intelligence coordination. Riccardi emphasized Nigeria's strength in its ethnic, linguistic, cultural, and religious diversity, describing the coexistence of Islam and Christianity as a miracle.

Archbishop Daniel C. Okoh of the Christian Association of Nigeria expressed appreciation for the government's engagement with the Christian community, particularly regarding national security and peace-building efforts.

Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama of Abuja stressed the importance of sustained dialogue to address Nigeria's challenges, including insecurity and social tensions.
