Tinubu, Shettima to Lead North Central Development Summit

President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and governors from the North Central states will participate in a two-day summit on September 14 and 15, 2026, at the Abuja Continental Hotel. The summit, organized by the North Central Development Commission, aims to create a 20-year economic, infrastructural, and social development plan for the region.

Themed “The Great Leap Forward: A 20-Year Economic, Infrastructural and Social Development Plan for the North Central Region,” the event will also feature former Heads of State Yakubu Gowon, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, and Abdulsalami Abubakar. Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Ndatsu Umaru (rtd.) will chair the occasion, while Engr. Abdullahi Sule, Governor of Nasarawa State, will be the Chief Host.

Prof. Iorwuese Hagher will deliver the keynote address, discussing the need for a coordinated long-term development strategy. The summit aims to unite stakeholders to address development challenges and align regional priorities with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
