Tinubu Begins Three-Week Leave Without Handover

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commenced a three-week annual leave in Europe, with his first destination being London, United Kingdom. Notably, he has not formally transferred presidential authority to Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The Presidency has characterized this trip as a “working vacation,” emphasizing that Tinubu will continue to monitor significant developments and receive regular updates from senior government officials. Sunday Dare, the President's Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, confirmed that despite being on leave, Tinubu will remain actively involved in state matters, receiving briefings from ministers and service chiefs.

Dare described the leave as well-deserved, citing the significant decisions made by the administration in recent months regarding the economy and security. The timing of the vacation has drawn political attention, coinciding with the intensifying political activities ahead of the 2027 general election.

Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, announced the departure and stated that the vacation is part of Tinubu's annual leave.
