Shettima Begins First Official Leave as Vice President

Vice President Kashim Shettima has begun a two-week leave, approved by President Bola Tinubu, marking his first official leave since he assumed office on May 29, 2023. The announcement was made by Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, in Abuja.

The leave is intended for Shettima to engage in study and reflection, allowing him to review ongoing government programs and assess key policy priorities. Nkwocha stated that this period would deepen Shettima's understanding of emerging national and global policy issues, better preparing him for future responsibilities as the Federal Government advances the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Since taking office, Shettima has been actively involved in coordinating various strategic government initiatives, including economic development, food security, and humanitarian affairs. He has also chaired meetings of the National Economic Council, which includes governors and senior public officials, to discuss policies affecting the economy and welfare of Nigerians.

Shettima is expected to return to office at the end of the two-week leave.
