Tinubu Assures Oyo Residents on Abducted Teachers' Rescue

President Bola Tinubu spoke regarding the ongoing rescue efforts for teachers and pupils abducted by gunmen in Oyo State's Oriire Local Government Area. During an event on May 15, 2026, where George Akume, the Secretary of the Federal Government, inaugurated the newly remodeled Premier Hotel in Ibadan, Tinubu reassured the people of Oyo State that the Federal Government is deploying measures, including international collaboration, to ensure the safe release of the victims.

He addressed the security challenges facing the nation and urged South West governors to preserve the development legacy of the region. Tinubu noted that his administration has made substantial investments over the past three years to strengthen national security architecture, enhance inter-agency coordination, improve intelligence gathering, and expand technological surveillance.

He called on the public and traditional faith-based institutions to remain vigilant and support security agencies in their efforts, emphasizing that the government is committed to restoring safety for all Nigerians.
