Tinubu's 261 Days Abroad Cost ₦37.64 Billion

Since assuming office on May 29, 2023, President Bola Tinubu has spent approximately 261 days outside Nigeria, undertaking 52 foreign trips, with his latest journey beginning on a three-week vacation to Europe, starting in London. Government expenditure records indicate that the Presidency has incurred over ₦37.64 billion on travel-related expenses between June 2023 and April 2026.

The highest spending occurred in 2024, totaling more than ₦25.26 billion. Significant payments were made shortly after Tinubu took office, including over ₦150 million for presidential trips and substantial allocations for the Presidential Air Fleet.

Notable transactions included payments for foreign exchange funding and flight tickets. Tinubu's travels have included international summits, state visits, and private vacations, with France and the United Kingdom being frequent destinations.

His spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, stated that Tinubu would return to Nigeria to prepare for the January 2027 elections.
