Tinubu Launches Training for 5,000 Meter Installers

President Bola Tinubu launched a training program aimed at equipping 5,000 young Nigerians with the skills to become meter installation technicians. This initiative, part of the Presidential Meter Initiative (PMI), seeks to close Nigeria's meter gap, improve electricity supply, and create job opportunities for youth.

The program is designed for eligible Nigerians who have completed secondary school education, with a dedicated quota for members of the National Youth Service Corps. Tinubu emphasized that the initiative will enhance service delivery in the power sector, promote transparency, and ensure consumers pay for actual electricity usage.

The PMI aims to eliminate estimated billing, strengthen the electricity market, and improve access to electricity nationwide. The program is set to commence within the next 30 days, encouraging qualified young Nigerians to apply and gain marketable skills that will help them earn a dignified living.
