Tinubu Advocates Digital Skills for South-East Students

President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed his administration's commitment to equipping Nigerian students with digital skills during the Renewed Hope Student Leaders’ Engagement and Digital Acceleration Programme for the South-East, held at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. Represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Students’ Engagement, Hon.

Sunday Asefon, Tinubu highlighted the importance of placing students at the center of national development through the Renewed Hope Agenda. Asefon urged students to embrace digital innovation and entrepreneurship, stressing that the Federal Government aims to transform students into creators of technology-driven solutions.

The Managing Director of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, announced that the Fund has processed approximately 1.5 million applications and disbursed ₦282 billion, with over ₦183 billion allocated for tuition and nearly ₦98 billion for student upkeep.

Despite these achievements, Sawyerr noted that the South-East has the lowest number of applicants for the student loan scheme and encouraged students to take advantage of the opportunities available.
