Tinubu's Security Plan Gains Support from Coalition Group

The Coalition of Patriots for Security Sector Reforms (CPSSR) has endorsed President Bola Tinubu's directive to prepare a National Threat Assessment and a rolling five-year Strategic Defence Operations Plan, calling it a timely initiative to enhance Nigeria's security coordination and resource allocation. In a statement on Monday, signed by National Coordinator Dr Salisu Attah, the coalition noted that the 90-day timeline should be seen as a chance to consolidate existing security frameworks rather than creating another strategy document.

An 11-member committee has been tasked with this preparation, expected to identify Nigeria's main security threats and establish operational priorities. Major General Adeyinka Famadewa (Rtd), appointed as the President's Special Adviser on Homeland Security in May, will coordinate the committee.

CPSSR highlighted Famadewa's extensive military and intelligence experience as vital for this role, ensuring coherence and proper documentation within the 90-day timeframe. The coalition emphasized that the new initiative aims to enhance existing strategies rather than replace them.
