Tobi Amusan Loses 100m Hurdles World Record in Zurich

Tobi Amusan has lost her title as the world record holder in the women's 100m hurdles after American athlete Masai Russell set a new record of 12.09 seconds at the Wanda Diamond League Meeting in Zurich. Russell's performance surpassed Amusan's previous record of 12.12 seconds, established at the World Athletics Championship in Eugene, USA, in 2022.

In the Zurich event, Amusan finished second with a time of 12.23 seconds, while European champion Nadine Visser secured third place with a season's best of 12.34 seconds. Russell's new world record is pending ratification by World Athletics.

This event marked a significant moment in athletics, as it was one of two world records broken during the meeting; Brazilian Alison dos Santos also set a new record in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 45.80 seconds, breaking the previous record held by Karsten Warholm.
