Tobi Amusan Wins Silver in 200m at Jamaican Meet

Tobi Amusan commenced her 2026 athletics season on a positive note by securing a silver medal in the women's 200m at a meet in Jamaica, finishing with a time of 23.25 seconds. This event marked her first outing since the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where she previously won a silver medal.

The race featured a strong field, with Jamaica's Elaine Thompson-Herah winning in 22.61 seconds, and compatriot Ackera Nugent finishing third with a time of 23.35 seconds. Amusan's performance in Jamaica provides an early indication of her form as she prepares for a packed international schedule.

She is set to return to her specialist event at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene on July 4, which is part of the Diamond League fixtures at Hayward Field. Amusan, the world record holder with a time of 12.12 seconds, will face a competitive lineup, including Olympic champion Masai Russell and two-time world champion Daniel Williams.

She aims to reclaim the Diamond League final crown in 2023, having won it for three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023.
