RCCG Donates $265,854 for Nigerian Evacuations from SA

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), under the leadership of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has donated $265,854 to the Nigerian Government to support the evacuation of Nigerians from South Africa following recent xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by spokesperson Oluwafemi Adeniyi, stated that the donation would be utilized to purchase 500 one-way air tickets for Nigerians wishing to return home.

The ministry praised the donation as a demonstration of compassion and solidarity, highlighting the importance of partnerships between faith-based organizations and public institutions in addressing social issues. The Nigerian Government initiated the evacuation operation on June 10, 2026, and has since repatriated 1,640 Nigerians, with 202 still awaiting screening by South Africa's Department of Home Affairs.

The government plans to collaborate with RCCG's leadership in South Africa to ensure the effective use of the donated funds. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been vocal about the need for collective action against xenophobic violence during international forums.
