VCN Urges Training of Veterinary Doctors for Livestock Agenda

The Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN), led by President Prof. Matthew Adamu, emphasized the need for tertiary institutions to train veterinary doctors to drive the country's livestock transformation agenda.

This statement was made during the induction ceremony for 48 new veterinary doctors from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, held in Umuahia, Abia State. Prof.

Adamu assured that the VCN would support the university in training veterinarians at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He highlighted the importance of ethical practice in veterinary medicine and warned against misconduct that could undermine public confidence.

Dr. Sarah Chimezi administered the oath to the new graduates, urging them to apply scientific knowledge to advance society.

Other speakers included Dr. Mose Arokoyo and Prof.

Ursula Ngozi Akanwa, who reaffirmed the institution's commitment to producing competent veterinary professionals. The ceremony also featured the presentation of certificates and awards to outstanding graduates.
