APM Terminals Launches Sustainable Transport at Ports

APM Terminals Nigeria, represented by Westtar Kapito, announced the commencement of sustainable transport initiatives at Nigerian ports during the 10th Nigeria-EU Business Forum held in Lagos. Kapito emphasized the importance of investing in modernizing Nigeria's maritime infrastructure to establish a foundation for future electrification and smarter port operations.

APM Terminals is committed to developing Nigeria's first green port at Apapa and investing in digital infrastructure and waterway solutions. Additionally, Kayode Opeifa, Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), discussed the agency's efforts to optimize the current rail infrastructure, calling for investments in the Lagos-Kano narrow gauge line, which is expected to be fully operational by September 2024.

The NRC also plans to decarbonize its locomotive fleet in alignment with the federal government's drive towards cleaner energy, highlighting Nigeria's readiness for sustainable trade and transport.
