APM Terminals Addresses Cargo Clearance Challenges

APM Terminals organized a forum in Lagos to address the operational bottlenecks affecting the National Single Window (NSW) cargo clearance process. The event brought together stakeholders, including representatives from customs and various regulatory agencies such as NAFDAC, NAQS, NDLEA, and SON.

Kamal Alhraishat, Managing Director of APM Terminals Apapa, emphasized the need for open discussions to identify and resolve challenges faced by customs and other agencies. Olayinka Akinlad, government relations manager at APM Terminals, reiterated the company's commitment to supporting efficient trade processes.

Peter Ekunkoya, Director of Operations for the NSW, acknowledged the ongoing challenges related to payment issues and document harmonization. Ayankop Ayankop from NAFDAC described the implementation as a learning process, while Iliya Shall from SON identified common causes of delays, including incorrect documentation and improper use of harmonized system codes.

The forum aimed to foster collaboration and ensure a smoother cargo clearance process across Nigeria's ports.
