Victoria Island Carnival 2026 Set to Transform Lagos Culture

The maiden Victoria Island Carnival 2026 is set to launch in Lagos, organized by Downtown Promotions in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. The event, themed “Eko’s Jewel: A Legacy Rich in Colour,” will run from September 14 to 20, transforming Victoria Island into a hub of music, fashion, art, and street culture.

The festivities began with the establishment of the Carnival Village at Muri Okunola Park, which will host culinary pop-ups, interactive hubs, and live performances. A street party and nightlife showcase will occur on September 19 along Adeyemo Alakija Street, featuring live DJ sets and fashion pop-ups.

The grand parade on September 20 will include themed floats and masquerades, concluding at Muri Okunola Park with a concert. Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, stated the carnival aims to stimulate the local economy and create opportunities for vendors and creatives.

Abiodun Ayorinde, CEO of Downtown Promotions, emphasized the event's legacy-building potential. The carnival is supported by Landmark Event Centre and the Federal Palace Hotel.
