Federal Capital Territory Tricycle Fares Rise Amid Fuel Surge

Tricycle operators across the Federal Capital Territory have announced fare increases of between N100 and N200 on various routes, effective from Sunday, following a rise in petrol prices to between N1,410 and N1,450 per litre. This increase is attributed to an N85 rise in the gantry price, which moved from N1,265 to N1,350 per litre.

For instance, the fare from Gudu to Lokogoma Junction has increased from N200 to N300, while the Kabusa Junction to Apo Roundabout fare has risen from N300 to N400. Commuters from Dutse Express to Tipper Garage Junction now pay N500 instead of N400.

Tricycle operators, including Saidu Mohamed, Haruna Abdullahi, and Ibrahim Dauda, cited rising petrol costs and spare parts as reasons for the fare hikes. Residents, including Daniel Aaron and Tony Akinbode, expressed that these increases are making daily life more difficult, with many revising their budgets due to the higher transportation costs.
