Türkiye Delivers 36 Tons of Food Aid to Nigerian IDPs

Türkiye has provided 36 tons of food aid to internally displaced persons (IDPs) at the Malkohi camp near Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria. This aid includes essential food items to support the daily lives of camp residents who have fled their homes due to previous attacks by the Boko Haram terrorist group.

The Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mehmet Poroy, highlighted Türkiye's long-standing commitment to humanitarian assistance in Nigeria and expressed the country's intention to offer additional support in Nigeria's fight against security challenges. Selen Laori, an official from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Adamawa, acknowledged the importance of the food aid for the camp's residents.

The event was attended by local authorities, including Bello Diram, the Adamawa Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs. The aid is part of Türkiye's broader humanitarian diplomacy efforts and aims to alleviate the hardships faced by those struggling to survive in difficult conditions due to ongoing insecurity in northeastern Nigeria.
