Türkiye Sends 36 Tons of Food Aid to Displaced Nigerians

Türkiye has delivered 36 tons of food aid to displaced persons in Adamawa State, Nigeria, as part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to address the needs of those affected by conflict in the northeast. The aid, coordinated by Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), was distributed at the Malkohi IDP camp on the outskirts of Yola.

The food package includes staple items and essential daily supplies, aimed at providing immediate relief to hundreds of displaced families facing severe living conditions after fleeing violence linked to Boko Haram insurgency. Türkiye's Ambassador to Nigeria, Mehmet Poroi, emphasized the country's long-standing commitment to humanitarian assistance and noted that Türkiye remains one of the world's leading providers of such aid.

Selen Laori, a representative from Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Adamawa, highlighted the significant impact of this intervention on alleviating food supply stress for camp residents. The event involved various stakeholders, including local officials and humanitarian actors, underscoring Türkiye's growing humanitarian diplomacy footprint in Africa.
