Troops Defeat Coordinated Terrorist Assault in Kukawa

On February 20, a coordinated multi-pronged terrorist assault was launched against military positions in Kukawa. The insurgents advanced using multiple armed vehicles, motorcycles, and foot soldiers, attempting to overwhelm the troops.

However, soldiers mounted a stubborn resistance, engaging in intense combat that lasted into the early hours of February 21. Military sources reported that air support was activated, leading to precise strikes that forced the insurgents to retreat, with many reportedly evacuating casualties from the battlefield.

Following the air interdiction mission, troops recovered 13 AK-47 rifles, 16 fully loaded magazines, and three handheld communication radios. The assault was deemed a failure for the insurgents, as evidence indicated they removed deceased and wounded members from the battlefield.

Despite sustaining damage from rocket fire, military personnel were evacuated and reported to be in stable condition. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts to degrade the operational capacity of insurgent elements in the region.
