Troops Arrest Terror Suspects, Seize Weapons in Zamfara

On Monday at approximately 1:50 am, troops from the 1 Brigade Combat Team 2, operating from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kaura Namoda, arrested two suspected terrorists, Jabiru Hassan (25) and Umaru Bello (23), in Zamfara. The suspects, hailing from Ilela village in Maradun Local Government Area, were found in possession of an AK-47 rifle, a locally fabricated Dane gun, two rifle magazines, 55 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and 18 Dane gun cartridges.

Additional items recovered included a motorcycle, two Baofeng radio sets, a mobile phone, two MP3 players, a camouflage vest, two jungle hats, a handbag, and N44,500 cash. A statement from Captain Yusuf Mohammed, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, indicated that the suspects' mobile phone contained photographs and videos deemed potentially incriminating.

The operation, part of the Brigade's ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities, was commended by Col. J. Umaru, the Acting Commander of the 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, who urged troops to maintain their offensive operations.
