Police Arrest Two with 55 Rounds of AK-47 Ammo in Zamfara

In the early hours of Monday, two suspects were arrested in Zamfara State during a stop-and-search operation conducted by a joint security team that included personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Community Protection Guard (CPG). The suspects, identified as Abubakar Rilwanu and Rabiu Mohammed, were intercepted while driving a Volkswagen Golf III with registration number Kogi MPA 92 AA.

A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 55 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition concealed in a polythene bag. Preliminary investigations revealed that the ammunition belonged to Rabiu Mohammed, who confessed to collecting it from Dodori Village in Gwandu Local Government Area of Kebbi State and was transporting it to a man named Oliya, who is currently at large.

Both suspects are in police custody and undergoing further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and dismantle the associated criminal network. Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State, CP A.
