Soldier Arrested for Supplying Military Gear to Terrorists

On July 25, troops of Operation HADIN KAI arrested Private Mohammed Yusuf, a soldier from the Nigerian Army Ordnance Training Facility in Lagos, who was declared wanted for allegedly supplying military accoutrements to terrorist groups in North-East Nigeria. Yusuf had absconded from his unit and traveled to Maiduguri on July 7, where he went into hiding after being declared wanted.

Preliminary investigations revealed that he was allegedly sheltered by another soldier, Private Baba Kamal Sale of the Corps of Intelligence, in the Gomari Costain area of Jere Local Government Area. Acting on credible intelligence, troops monitored Yusuf and intercepted him at Jidari Bus Stop while he was reportedly attempting to flee to neighboring Cameroon.

He is currently in military custody, undergoing further investigation regarding his alleged supply of military gear to terrorists and the involvement of potential collaborators. Military sources described the arrest as a significant breakthrough in dismantling insider networks supporting terrorist activities.
