Soldier Arrested in Borno for Alleged Terrorism Links

The Nigerian Army confirmed the arrest of Private Mohammed Yusuf, who was declared wanted for his alleged involvement in supplying military accoutrements to terrorists. He was apprehended by troops of the 7 Provost Group, Operation HADIN KAI, at Jidari Bus Stop, Maiduguri, on July 25, 2026, while attempting to flee to the Republic of Cameroon.

Acting Military Information Officer, Capt. Muhammed Goni, stated that Yusuf had absconded from his unit on July 7, 2026, and had been hiding in Maiduguri with the help of an associate.

The Nigerian Army declared him wanted on July 23, 2026, for the same allegations. The arrest highlights the Army's commitment to accountability and the dismantling of criminal support networks.

Yusuf is currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of his activities and identify any accomplices. Goni urged the public to provide credible information to assist security agencies.
