Soldier Arrested for Selling Uniforms to Terrorists

Private Yusuf, bearing service number 23NA/84/1939 and attached to the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, was arrested at approximately 6:30 p.m. on July 25, 2026, at the Jidari Bus Stop in Maiduguri, Borno State. He was reportedly attempting to flee to the Republic of Cameroon.

Capt. Muhammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer for the North-East Joint Task Force, Operation HADIN KAI, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Sunday.

Yusuf had been declared wanted on July 23, 2026, after absconding from his unit on July 7, 2026. Following credible human intelligence, troops from the 7 Provost Group executed the operation that led to his capture.

Preliminary investigations revealed that he had gone into hiding in the Gomari Costain area of Jere Local Government Area with the help of an associate. The military emphasized its commitment to combating internal sabotage and urged citizens to provide timely information to aid counter-insurgency efforts.
