Nigerian Military Conducts 14,221 Operations in Six Months

From January to June 2026, the Nigerian military conducted 14,221 security operations, which led to the elimination of 1,597 criminals and the rescue of 1,516 hostages. These operations were part of a coordinated effort across land, air, and maritime missions targeting terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, arms traffickers, and oil thieves.

Major General Samaila Uba, during a joint press briefing, disclosed that the military neutralized 412 Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters and arrested 332 terrorists. The operations also resulted in the recovery of 451 firearms, 16,726 rounds of ammunition, and 161 improvised explosive devices.

The military issued 593 press statements to counter misinformation and enhance public awareness. Additionally, 33 peace-building dialogues and 13 public sensitization campaigns were conducted to strengthen civil-military relations.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining momentum against terrorism, banditry, and other criminal threats to national security.
