Nigerian Troops Kill 662 Terrorists, Arrest 1,084 Suspects

In the second quarter of 2026, Nigerian troops successfully killed 662 terrorists and arrested 1,084 suspects as part of intensified military operations aimed at dismantling terrorist and criminal networks. Major General Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, reported these achievements during a press conference in Abuja.

The operations, which included joint land and air support, were conducted across various theaters, particularly in the northeast, where 484 terrorists were killed and 595 kidnap victims were rescued. Significant operations included the neutralization of 77 terrorists in the Mandara Mountain area of Borno State, and the arrest of 210 suspects.

The military also focused on disrupting illegal oil bunkering and arms trafficking, with operations leading to the dismantling of 12 illegal refining sites and the recovery of stolen petroleum products. The Nigerian Armed Forces emphasized their commitment to restoring peace and stability across the nation through coordinated actions against terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.
