Troops Dislodge Terrorists in Sokoto, Recover Weapons

Troops of the COAS Special Intervention Battalion 7, part of Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully dislodged terrorists from their hideouts in the Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State. This operation, reported on Sunday, was part of ongoing military efforts to eliminate terrorist enclaves in the North-West region.

The troops advanced through suspected terrorist strongholds around the villages of Manu, Alkasim, and Kandam, ultimately engaging the terrorists in the Magarya forest. The military statement indicated that the troops used superior firepower, compelling the terrorists to abandon their positions and flee deeper into the forest.

Following the encounter, a follow-up operation led to the recovery of one PKT machine gun, several AK-47 rifles, a significant quantity of 7.62 x 54mm belted ammunition, and multiple motorcycles. The military confirmed that this operation disrupted terrorist activities in the area, with troops remaining deployed to prevent any regrouping and to ensure the security of surrounding communities.
