Troops Dislodge Terrorists in Sokoto, Recover Weapons

Troops of the COAS Special Intervention Battalion 7, part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, conducted clearance operations in Tangaza Local Government Area, Sokoto State, dislodging terrorist elements and recovering a cache of high-calibre weapons. The operation targeted areas used by armed groups for transit and staging.

According to Lt Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the troops advanced through villages including Manu, Alkasim, and Kandam, reaching the Magarya forest, a known hideout for terrorists. Engaging the insurgents with superior firepower forced them to flee, allowing troops to recover significant arms, including one PKT general-purpose machine gun, AK-47 rifles, and 7.62 x 54mm belted ammunition, along with motorcycles and logistical items.

This operation aims to degrade the terrorists' capacity to attack nearby villages and move freely. The military has intensified patrols and clearance missions to ensure security in Sokoto, Zamfara, and Katsina States, addressing residents' concerns over insecurity.
