Troops Recover 147 Rustled Animals Along Kano-Katsina Border

On July 15, 2023, troops from the Nigerian Army's 3 Brigade, led by Major Babatunde Zubairu, conducted a successful operation along the Kano-Katsina border, foiling a bandit attack. The troops received credible intelligence at 5:45 PM indicating that armed bandits were moving to rustle livestock in the Yankamay Rimay area.

The troops quickly deployed to strategic points, intercepting the bandits during an exchange of gunfire, which forced the attackers to abandon the rustled livestock. The operation resulted in the recovery of 97 cattle and 50 sheep, which are being returned to their rightful owners.

Additionally, two suspects were arrested, and a motorcycle was recovered. However, during the operation, a local vigilante, Mallam Yusuf Adamu, aged 47, was killed in crossfire.

The Nigerian Army expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and emphasized ongoing efforts to pursue fleeing bandits to ensure security in the region.
